Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen has ordered the immediate disbandment of all criminal gangs operating along the Narok-Kisii border, where recent cattle theft sparked deadly clashes. Speaking at a peace forum in Kiango, Murkomen condemned the violence that claimed three lives and tasked local security agencies with arresting the culprits behind the theft. He urged residents to reject divisive leaders and work toward long-term peace.
Murkomen emphasized the government’s commitment to improving security, including the procurement of 5,000 police vehicles. Education CS Julius Ogamba and Narok Woman Rep Rebecca Tonkei also called for dialogue to prevent further violence. Kilgoris MP Julius Sunkuli proposed forming new administrative units and launching a peace tournament to promote harmony between the Maasai and Kisii communities.
