
Veteran engineer and public sector leader John Mruttu is among the expected speakers at the NGO Stakeholders Summit 2026, where discussions will focus on governance, development and sustainable socio-economic transformation.
Eng. Mruttu brings more than three decades of experience in public administration, energy, development finance and corporate leadership. Over the years, he has built a reputation for combining technical expertise with executive leadership in both the private and public sectors.
He previously served as the first Governor of Taita Taveta County after transitioning from a long career in the petroleum industry into public service.
During his leadership in county government, Eng. Mruttu oversaw initiatives aimed at strengthening institutions and implementing reforms across key sectors including infrastructure, healthcare, education, water access and economic empowerment.
He is also recognized for his role in fostering collaboration between government agencies, development partners and stakeholders in advancing regional development projects.
Currently, Eng. Mruttu serves as Chairman of the Agricultural Finance Corporation, where he provides strategic leadership to the institution in supporting agricultural development, financial inclusion and food security initiatives across the country.
His leadership approach has been widely associated with governance, accountability and results-driven public service.
At the summit, Eng. Mruttu is expected to share insights on leadership, institutional development and strategies for driving sustainable economic growth through partnerships and inclusive development initiatives.
