The Kenya Kwanza government plans to roll out major development projects and revive stalled initiatives in Mt Kenya as President William Ruto embarks on a critical tour.
His visit follows growing discontent after the removal of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. To prepare, Ruto has met with regional leaders to address concerns in agriculture, infrastructure, housing, and markets. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has also engaged local stakeholders.
Ruto is expected to commission multibillion-shilling projects and restart abandoned ones. While previous road projects stalled due to funding issues, new efforts aim to revive them.
The visit also follows a political shake-up that sidelined Gachagua’s allies in Parliament. Despite the tensions, critics emphasize the need for tangible development rather than political maneuvering.
