Police in Embu County have launched a murder investigation after a man’s body was discovered on a cliff on May 27. The body, which had decomposed, bore a deep cut on the back of the head, suggesting foul play. Authorities suspect the man was either pushed off the cliff or his body was dumped there. The body was moved to the mortuary for identification and postmortem.
In separate incidents, two suspects were lynched by mobs. In Kiengu, Meru County, a man accused of motorcycle theft was pursued from Maua Town and stoned to death. In Bungoma County, a 35-year-old man, David Simiyu, was lynched over alleged chicken theft. Police condemned the lynchings and urged the public to hand over suspects for lawful prosecution.
Meanwhile, in Usenge, Siaya County, a fisherman drowned in Lake Victoria following a violent clash over fishing grounds. He was attacked while in a boat between Mageta Island and Nambo. Police are investigating the incident, which reportedly occurred in Kenyan waters.
