Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua postponed launching his new political party to allow time for the reconstitution of the IEBC. He stated that while consultations were completed, stakeholders agreed to delay the unveiling until May. Gachagua claimed that many Mt. Kenya leaders are prepared to leave UDA and contest by-elections under the new party, assuring them of re-election. He emphasized the party’s national presence while asserting its stronghold in Mt. Kenya. He also criticized recent leadership changes in parliament, calling them an attempt to weaken the region’s political influence.
