National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has thrown his support behind the UDA-ODM pact signed on Friday, highlighting its role in fostering national unity.
Speaking at the memorial service of former IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati, Wetang’ula urged leaders to prioritize the nation’s stability and development over personal interests.
“President Ruto and Raila Odinga, along with all of us, have engaged in discussions and reached an agreement—Kenya is greater than any individual. Political unity is essential for economic progress, peace, and national stability,” he stated.
His remarks resonated with leaders from both sides of the political divide, who hailed the pact as a step toward a more inclusive and cooperative government.
Saboti MP Caleb Amisi linked the agreement to Chebukati’s integrity in overseeing the last general election, while Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa emphasized that choosing development over political hostility does not weaken leadership.
Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang echoed the need for unity to translate into tangible benefits for all Kenyans.
The UDA-ODM partnership, finalized after weeks of consultations, aims to align both parties on national interests and political collaboration. Leaders at the memorial underscored that top-level unity sets a foundation for peace and economic growth across the country.
