An investigation by the BBC has revealed that Adam Whittington, a former police officer and founder of Project Rescue Children (PRC), has misled donors by fabricating stories to raise funds for his charity. Although he claims to have rescued over 700 children from trafficking in countries like Uganda, Kenya, and The Gambia, evidence shows that many of these children were never trafficked. Allegations of financial mismanagement have emerged, including instances where funds raised with celebrity endorsements did not reach intended beneficiaries.
Whittington’s claims include rescuing a newborn from traffickers, which has been debunked as untrue. The supposed rescue centers in Africa turned out to be private homes, with no rescued children present. Former partners and staff have raised concerns about PRC’s operations and financial integrity. The Australian Charity Commission has revoked PRC’s charitable status due to these issues, and Whittington is currently living in Russia, continuing to solicit funds for his charity.
