A 68-year-old South African businessman, Mark Nalon Minter, was found dead in his washroom in Parklands, Nairobi, on the morning of May 7. He had arrived in Kenya on May 1 for a business trip and was due to leave on May 10. His female companion reported that she went to bed after dinner and discovered him missing the next morning—instead finding him collapsed and unresponsive in the toilet. Medics from St John’s Ambulance confirmed his death at the scene. Hypertension and diabetes medications were recovered from his bag, and a forehead wound—likely from a fall—was noted. His body was moved to the City Mortuary pending an autopsy, and his companion was questioned and released as investigations continue.
In a separate incident in Kuria, Migori County, a man named Chacha Marwa was found dead at his home’s entrance, having suffered multiple stab wounds after an attack by his brother. The assailant was arrested in the homestead, and the suspected murder weapon was seized. Marwa’s body was taken to Wima Hospital mortuary for autopsy, and police suspect the dispute stemmed from land issues.
