Police are investigating the shooting of Abdirahim Abdullahi Ibrahim, 25, who was killed on November 9, 2024, in Eastleigh. Detectives, acting on intelligence, arrested a 27-year-old suspect in Kiambiu slums.
The suspect is also linked to the August 23, 2023, murder of police constable David Mayaka, who was fatally shot in Mihango, Kayole, by three motorcycle-riding assailants while attending to a stalled vehicle.
National Police Service spokesperson Dr. Resila Onyango stated that authorities are following leads on other potential crimes involving the suspect.
CCTV footage captured the Eastleigh shooting, showing the attacker firing a close-range shot below Abdirahim’s ear, with the bullet exiting on the opposite side. The attacker stole his phone and fled, leaving behind a waitress whom Abdirahim had been meeting.
The woman reported the incident to Shauri Moyo Police Station and is currently in custody as investigations continue. A postmortem revealed that Abdirahim succumbed to excessive blood loss from the gunshot wound.
This incident comes days after the arrest of Hashim Dagane Muhumed, 34, suspected of murdering a family of three and another woman in Lavington. Authorities are investigating his possible ties to terror recruitment. A special squad has been formed to investigate crimes in the area, leading to multiple arrests and deportations.
