Clergymen in Murang’a and nearby counties have received a boost following the launch of a School of Divinity at Pioneer University. The institution will now offer a postgraduate diploma in transformational church administration aimed at equipping religious leaders with modern management and leadership skills. Vice Chancellor Gideon Maina said the programme blends theological foundations with disciplines like sociology, psychology, and environmental studies to help clergy address both spiritual and societal challenges.
Maina emphasized that the course will promote inclusive and collaborative leadership, especially critical in light of recent religious controversies such as the Shakahola tragedy. He noted that with proper training, church leaders can foster ethical leadership and social justice. The university’s Chancellor Peter Munga praised the initiative for bringing advanced theological education closer to local leaders. Anglican Bishop Timothy Gichere added that empowering church leaders also strengthens community well-being and contributes to national development.
