Detectives in Naivasha have arrested a 33-year-old man suspected of dealing in stolen mobile phones.
The suspect was apprehended during a raid at his shop in Naivasha town, following an intelligence-led operation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). According to the DCI, officers caught him in the act, flashing several stolen phones.
A search of the premises uncovered an HP laptop, 27 assorted mobile phones, and a mobile phone flashing kit. “The recovered items revealed the scale of his illegal business,” DCI officials said. The suspect is currently being held at Naivasha Police Station pending formal charges.
The Naivasha operation occurred just hours after detectives from Embakasi Police Station in Nairobi arrested two suspects linked to a major burglary at a godown on April 20, 2025. Authorities said the burglary resulted in a loss of goods valued at approximately Sh17.6 million, including hundreds of television sets, some of which had already been sold.
According to a report filed at Mombasa Road Police Station, employees returning after the Easter holidays found the store broken into. Investigators determined that a group of criminals had cut through the iron sheet roof to access the accounts office and storeroom, stealing a large quantity of electronics and other items.
Among the stolen goods were 363 pieces of 43-inch Hisense TVs, 20 pieces of 20-inch HB TVs, 11 HS 218 soundbars, four HP laptops, two mobile phones, desktop computers, school bags, spare parts, and CCTV servers. Officers also recovered a white Mitsubishi FH truck loaded with the stolen property.
