Kitui Governor Julius Malombe has overseen the implementation of over 1,000 development projects worth Sh9.6 billion since taking office, according to the county administration. These projects span critical sectors including health, water, agriculture, education, infrastructure, sports, trade, and security.
One of the key highlights is the completion of 676 community infrastructure projects, undertaken at a cost of Sh1 billion. Malombe announced plans to publish a booklet listing all projects completed since 2022 to enhance transparency and allow residents to assess progress.
Speaking during a manifesto review retreat in Mombasa, Malombe noted major progress in healthcare delivery. At Kitui County Referral Hospital, a new outpatient block is now operational and offers ICU, HDU, cancer, hemophilia, and newborn care services. Piped oxygen has also been extended to critical care units to improve patient outcomes.
In Mwingi Level 4 Hospital, the county government has installed an oxygen plant, completed a 36-body mortuary, and equipped both the amenity ward and a rehabilitation unit with modern tools. Across the county’s eight subcounties, 18 sump well schemes and 115 solar-powered boreholes now provide clean water to more than 2,000 residents.
