As China’s economic growth continues to accelerate and its openness increases, the demand for convenient travel to China among foreigners is on the rise.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, along with relevant authorities, is actively enhancing visa and entry policies for international visitors. A range of facilitation measures has been introduced, receiving positive feedback.

The Chinese Embassy in Kenya has implemented various initiatives to ensure that Kenyan citizens can easily obtain their Chinese visas.

Firstly, the requirement for appointments for visa applications has been eliminated. Applicants can now submit their documents at the Nairobi Chinese Visa Application Service Center without prior appointments. There is no daily limit on submissions, allowing applicants to apply at their convenience.

Additionally, the Embassy and the Visa Center have increased staffing to expedite visa reviews, significantly improving processing times. For those with urgent needs, expedited services are available, enabling applicants to receive their visas within one working day after submission.

Secondly, the visa application process has been streamlined. The exemption of fingerprint collection has been extended for eligible single or double-entry visa applicants in categories such as business (M), tourism (L), family visits (Q2), transit (G), and crew members (C) until December 31, 2024. Moreover, the visa application form has been simplified, reducing the required information by 34%, resulting in fewer procedures and forms for applicants.

Thirdly, the Embassy has improved communication and service quality at the Visa Center. Staff training has enhanced guidance for applicants, reducing the rejection rate. Visa fees have also been lowered to 75% of previous rates until December 31, 2024, making the application process more affordable.

These visa facilitation measures have yielded positive results, making it easier for Kenyan citizens to obtain Chinese visas. The number of visas issued by the Embassy is rapidly increasing, reflecting the strengthening of exchanges and cooperation between our countries.

Nairobi now boasts not only an expressway linking the airport to the city but also a “visa expressway” facilitating travel between Kenya and China. China is committed to expanding its engagement with the world, promoting economic globalization, and fostering an open world economy for the benefit of all.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Kenya have supported each other as equals, forming strong partnerships in political and economic cooperation. Together, they lead in China-Africa cooperation, particularly through the Belt and Road Initiative, generating tangible benefits for both nations.

The foundation of international friendship lies in the bonds between peoples. Consular cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative has further enhanced the visa application experience for Kenyans.

Recently, China published the “Guide to Payment Services in China,” detailing how foreigners can access various payment methods. Now, visitors can easily use mobile phones to scan QR codes for payments, improving their travel experience.

We invite new visitors to explore China’s rich culture and history and welcome returning friends to strengthen the ties between our nations. Increased personnel exchanges will foster greater bilateral cooperation, laying a stronger foundation for future development.

We look forward to welcoming more Kenyan friends to China.
