US singer Chris Brown has been formally charged with grievous bodily harm with intent by the UK’s Metropolitan Police. The charge stems from an alleged assault at a central London nightclub on February 19, 2023. Brown, 36, was arrested early Thursday morning at a Manchester hotel and remains in custody.
He is set to appear before Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday. The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed the charge under section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, emphasizing that criminal proceedings are now active and that Brown is entitled to a fair trial. The R&B star, currently on tour, had flown into Manchester on Wednesday and is scheduled to perform across the UK in June and July.
