The second edition of the Kenya Beach Games has been nothing short of a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on both visitors and locals alike. Hosted in the picturesque town of Kilifi, the event showcased the best of what the region has to offer, from stunning venues to unparalleled hospitality.
With the unveiling of the new state-of-the-art Beach stadium at the Buntwani Waterfront Park, courtesy of Governor H.E Gideon Maitha Mung’aro, Kilifi is now poised to host the African Beach Games in the upcoming edition. Led by President Paul Tergat, the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) has embraced Kilifi as their second home, a testament to the warm reception and excellent facilities available in the area.
The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Gender, Youth, Sports, Culture, Social Services, Disaster Management, and Special Programs in Kilifi County, Hon. Dr. Ruth Dama Masha, was in attendance as the host of the event. Her presence underscored the county government’s commitment to supporting sports and youth development initiatives, further enhancing the prestige and significance of the Kenya Beach Games.
The success of the Kenya Beach Games can also be attributed to the valuable support and guidance provided by NOC-K. Through training sessions focused on sports administration, NOC-K has equipped the organizers with the necessary skills and knowledge to enhance their professional capabilities. Kilifi County is one of the few counties to receive this training and certification, a testament to its commitment to sports development.
The Kenya Beach Games has set a new standard for sporting events in the region. With Kilifi emerging as a premier destination for beach sports, the stage is set for the African Beach Games to be a truly spectacular event. The organizers extend their sincere gratitude to NOC-K for their invaluable support and look forward to continuing their partnership in the future.
