At least 21 people have died following a road accident involving three vehicles in central Mexico’s Puebla state.
The crash occurred Wednesday morning on the Cuacnopalan-Oaxaca highway and involved a cement truck, a bus, and a van. Eighteen people died at the scene, while three others succumbed to injuries in hospital, according to local official Samuel Aguilar Pala.
Local reports indicate the cement truck was overtaking when it hit the bus and then collided head-on with the van before plunging into a ravine and catching fire. Several others were injured and are receiving treatment.
The accident adds to a series of deadly crashes on Mexican highways in recent years.
