Kenya University Students Organization (KUSO) President Antony Manyara has been conferred an honorary Doctorate (PhD Honoris Causa) in Leadership and Youth Advocacy by Heim Weldios University of Management and Technology in Abuja, Nigeria.
Expressing his gratitude, Manyara described the recognition as a validation of the potential of young leaders when given opportunities. He thanked the university for acknowledging his efforts, stating, “This award highlights the importance of embracing Kenyan youth leadership to drive the nation’s economic progress. I am committed to leading initiatives that empower the youth and contribute to national development.”
KUSO celebrated Manyara’s achievement, calling it a testament to his dedication, impactful leadership, and advocacy for youth. “Your journey inspires many, and this recognition is well-deserved. It underscores the immense potential of Kenyan youth,” the organization stated.
A vocal advocate for youth empowerment and good governance, Manyara has been at the forefront of addressing societal challenges. Recently, he led initiatives to curb moral decay and petitioned Parliament to declare femicide and gender-based violence (GBV) a national disaster. His petition, filed on November 15, urged lawmakers to act swiftly under Article 119 of the Kenyan Constitution, emphasizing the need for urgent measures to address the rising cases of GBV.
In his petition, Manyara called for President William Ruto to formally recognize femicide and GBV as a national crisis, highlighting the importance of mobilizing resources to tackle the issue. He reminded MPs that the constitution mandates respect, defense, and upholding of its provisions, and any law inconsistent with it is void.
