Witnesses at the Eldoret High Court recounted how a suspected love triangle and marital disputes may have led to the murder of former marathon runner Samson Kandie. Kandie’s widow, Rose Chepkemboi, is among three suspects charged with his killing in October 2024. Several witnesses testified that Chepkemboi sought their help to “discipline” her husband due to his affair, even offering money as an incentive. Although they accepted payments, the witnesses denied participating in the attack. The prosecution alleges Chepkemboi masterminded the killing, motivated by marital issues. She and two others have pleaded not guilty. The trial is set to continue in June, with numerous witnesses expected to testify.
