The U.S. expects a meeting between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to happen soon, according to Sebastian Gorka, Trump’s deputy assistant. Speaking at a security forum, Gorka said such talks depend on timing, and the meeting is expected “imminently,” though he declined to provide further details.
Asked about Trump’s involvement in the Russia-Ukraine peace talks in Istanbul, Gorka ruled it out, saying all parties must be willing to participate. He added that Trump would play a key role in finalizing any eventual peace deal.
Gorka avoided commenting on the issue of international recognition of Crimea, noting it was outside his role. He emphasized the Trump administration’s main priority in conflict zones is to end bloodshed.
Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated no Trump-Putin meeting was scheduled in the immediate future.
