Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has strongly condemned the attempted assassination of Deputy Governor Oyugi Magwanga. She urged residents to uphold peace and denounce all forms of violence.
Wanga emphasized the seriousness of the incident and called on security agencies to investigate swiftly and bring those responsible to justice. She noted the county is still mourning the death of Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were, making this incident especially troubling.
Magwanga reported the attack occurred Sunday night when armed assailants trailed him to his home in Kabuor village, East Kamagak ward. He changed his route after receiving intelligence, and his security detail, taking the usual path, encountered the attackers. Gunfire was exchanged, with the gang firing at the vehicle, believing Magwanga was inside.
