Renowned radio presenter Edward Kwach has passed away at the age of 44 while receiving treatment for meningitis.
Kwach, who worked at Spice FM under Standard Media Group, died on Monday, April 28, 2025, following a brief illness, according to a statement released by his family.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved son and brother, Carey, that occurred last night… while receiving treatment for meningitis,” the family said.
He had been admitted to Coptic Hospital earlier in April in critical condition, where appeals were made for blood donations to support his recovery.
His passing is another blow to Kenya’s media industry, which has recently mourned the loss of several prominent journalists.
Kwach was celebrated not only for his voice and musical selection but also for the warmth, wit, and relatability he brought to the airwaves.
His family expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support shown during his illness. “We are thankful for the generosity of those who donated blood, visited, and kept him in their thoughts and prayers.”
Funeral and memorial details will be announced at a later date.
