The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has officially announced the vacancy for its Chief Executive Officer, signaling the upcoming end of Dr. Nancy Macharia’s tenure after nearly a decade in office. Macharia, who became the first woman to lead the Commission in 2015, is set to exit later this year.
The newly advertised role, which also serves as Secretary to the Commission, includes leading the Commission’s operations and implementing its policies and strategies. The CEO will serve a renewable five-year term as outlined in the TSC Act.
The commission is currently navigating significant reforms and increased scrutiny over teacher management and educational standards. Eligible candidates must be Kenyan citizens with a degree in education, at least 10 years of relevant experience, and must meet the ethical requirements under Chapter Six of the Constitution.
Applicants have until Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. to submit their applications via the TSC portal, email, or by hand-delivery to TSC headquarters in Nairobi. Required documents include a CV, academic credentials, and clearance certificates from KRA, HELB, EACC, DCI, and a licensed credit bureau. TSC warned that canvassing or providing false information would lead to disqualification.
