A deadly accident involving three trailers early Friday morning caused a major traffic disruption along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway near the Jet Inn area between Emali and Masimba. One person died and another was seriously injured when the trucks collided on a railway bridge section of the road, completely blocking both lanes.
Emergency services and traffic police are still clearing the wreckage, and motorists are being advised to use alternative routes: from Mombasa via Makindu-Wote-Machakos Junction, and from Nairobi via Machakos Junction-Wote-Makindu. The National Police Service confirmed the gridlock and urged drivers to remain patient, follow traffic rules, and avoid the affected stretch as cleanup efforts continue.
