A heartbreaking fire incident in Mutethis area, Buuri, Meru County claimed the lives of two young girls.
The children, both aged two, were reportedly locked inside a rental house by their mother, who had stepped out to run errands. During her absence, a fire broke out and quickly engulfed the house, tragically killing the girls.
Authorities confirmed that the cause of the blaze remains unknown as investigations continue.
Devastated by the tragedy, the mother is said to have collapsed upon learning of her daughters’ fate and was rendered unconscious.
The children’s bodies have been taken to the mortuary for post-mortem examinations as police launch further inquiries into the incident.
