SportPesa has introduced Tujiamini, an innovative initiative aimed at nurturing and promoting talents in Kenya, particularly in sports and the creative economy. Tujiamini, which means “Believe in Ourselves,” is designed to support Kenyan sportsmen and women across all levels, showcasing SportPesa’s commitment to grassroots sports development and talent nurturing in the country.
Capt. Ronald Karauri, CEO of SportPesa, highlighted the company’s dedication to talent identification and nurturing, emphasizing its long-standing support for grassroots initiatives. “Tujiamini is our commitment to the talented individuals in our communities, providing them with a platform to showcase their abilities and excel,” Mr. Karauri stated.
Under the Tujiamini initiative, SportPesa plans to distribute over Ksh3 million monthly across four categories, benefiting up to 87 participants. The initiative has received endorsement from Mr. Ababu Namwamba, Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, aligning with the government’s Talanta Hela initiative aimed at promoting talent.
Tujiamini has kicked off with awards to various sports teams and individuals, including Ksh500,000 to the Shoot for Life Basketball Team and Ksh100,000 to the Rogue Rugby Podcast and TV. These awards are intended to address immediate needs and support the winners on their journey to greater achievements.
Beyond being an awards program, Tujiamini aims to empower communities and cultivate a culture of self-belief and determination among Kenyan youths. The initiative provides a structured platform for showcasing and enhancing a wide range of talents, inviting participants to submit their nominations through the SportPesa Tujiamini website.
This initiative marks a significant step towards building a robust talent development pipeline in Kenya, touching lives and turning dreams into reality. SportPesa’s commitment to sports development is further demonstrated through its sponsorship of top teams and events, solidifying its role as a key player in sports and talent development in Kenya. Partnering with DBA Africa, a company deeply rooted in sports management and development, Tujiamini is poised to make a lasting impact in the sports and creative sectors in Kenya and beyond.
