A man in Diere village, Ugenya, Siaya County, turned himself in to police on May 28, confessing to the murder of his 85-year-old grandmother, Jennifer Aduor Aoko.
The suspect told police he killed the elderly woman over suspicions of witchcraft. Officers who accompanied him to the scene found the woman’s body in a pool of blood, with a blood-stained spade nearby believed to have been used in the attack.
The two had been living together prior to the incident. The body was taken to the mortuary as investigations and an autopsy are pending.
