Safaricom has announced a reduction in the minimum amount for M-Pesa purchases, lowering it from Sh5 to Sh1. This change allows users to buy airtime for as little as Sh1. The new policy was revealed on Monday and has already been implemented.
In addition, Safaricom has introduced a new fee structure for reverse calls. Users who make more than two reverse calls per day will now incur a charge of Sh0.50 for each additional call. This fee aims to address the misuse of the service by those who have sufficient airtime but still opt for reverse calls.
The reverse call service will remain free for up to two requests per day and is only available for calls made within the Safaricom network.
