Safaricom projects profitability in Ethiopia by FY 2027, as it continues to invest heavily in expanding its network and services, including launching M-PESA and overdraft services. In FY 2025, the company recorded a 10.8% rise in net income to Sh69.8 billion and now has 8.8 million customers in Ethiopia. It plans to invest Sh18–21 billion in Ethiopia next year, expecting to reduce losses from prior heavy expenditure. Group EBIT is projected at Sh150 billion, with Ethiopia contributing 10% of group revenue. Despite forex challenges, Safaricom’s overall revenue rose 11.2% to Sh388.7 billion, and it will maintain its dividend payout.
