Safaricom PLC has announced a Sh48.08 billion dividend payout to shareholders for the financial year ending March 31, 2025, following a 10.8% rise in net income to Sh69.8 billion. The telco’s performance was powered by strong growth in mobile money and broadband services.
Total revenue rose by 11.2% to Sh388.7 billion, with the dividend including a final payout of 65 cents per share, on top of an earlier 55-cent interim dividend. CEO Peter Ndegwa credited the results to innovation, the Ethiopian market expansion, and community investments. The company’s five-year transformation into a tech-focused firm concluded during the reporting period, with group EBIT jumping 29.5% to Sh104.1 billion. M-PESA alone contributed Sh161 billion, 44.2% of Kenya’s service revenue, as it expanded into credit and wealth solutions.
