President William Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, and Supreme Court judges are set to receive salary increases starting July 1. Treasury documents reveal that the combined annual pay for the President and Deputy will rise from Sh36 million to Sh42 million, marking a 16% increase. Judges’ salaries will also increase by Sh500 million, bringing their total pay from Sh3.1 billion to Sh3.6 billion. However, the exact impact on individual judges remains unclear, as salaries for other state officers remain unchanged.

With the adjustments, Ruto’s monthly pay could rise from Sh1.4 million to Sh1.6 million, while Kindiki’s may increase from Sh1.2 million to Sh1.4 million. In addition to their salaries, both leaders receive allowances, official transport, and medical coverage for their families. These raises come amid ongoing concerns over Kenya’s rising wage bill, which has reached approximately Sh1.7 trillion. The government continues to face pressure from civil servants, doctors, teachers, and MCAs demanding salary reviews, further straining public finances.
