Detectives are investigating the death of Corporal Julius Kaimenyi, a Tourist Police Unit officer, who was found unresponsive on a bench in a bar in Kikuyu Town, Kiambu County. Witnesses reported that the officer had been dancing without consuming any drinks before he began vomiting. The bar manager instructed staff to let him rest on a bench.
When other patrons left, the officer was left behind. On Tuesday morning, he was found unresponsive. Police confirmed he had vomited on his clothes, and his body was moved to the mortuary for an autopsy.
Investigators are probing whether he consumed anything at the bar and have questioned witnesses and staff.
This incident follows the recent death of Constable Geoffrey Kipapi in Vihiga County. Kipapi was found dead in his home with blood from his mouth and nose after returning from duty. Both cases are under investigation.
