Internal Security PS Dr. Raymond Omollo has called on Coast leaders to unite and provide strategic leadership to advance peace, justice, and inclusive development in the region.
Speaking at the Coast Parliamentary Group retreat in Kisumu, he proposed forming a joint taskforce between the Lands Ministry and Judiciary to fast-track land and political violence cases. He also urged legal reforms on hate speech and electoral conduct.
Omollo emphasized aligning national priorities with regional goals, highlighting key developments like the Dongo Kundu Bypass, Galana-Kulalu Food Project, and road upgrades in Mombasa, Mtwapa, and Kilifi. He also pushed for investment in solar energy to address high electricity costs.
He praised MPs for engaging with national agencies and urged them to leverage their numbers to lobby for key projects, including stalled LAPSSET roads. Omollo stressed that peace, infrastructure, and coordinated governance are vital for sustainable progress, and highlighted ongoing initiatives like Jukwaa la Usalama and youth-focused climate action campaigns.
