Noah Maiyo, a seasoned security professional with a long tenure in presidential protection, has been appointed as the new Commandant of the Presidential Escort Unit (PEU). Maiyo, who currently holds the rank of Assistant Inspector General, previously led security operations at the PEU for two years and spent a decade in a similar role at the Office of the Deputy President.
With over 30 years of experience in VIP protection, Maiyo brings a wealth of expertise to his new position. He succeeds William Yiampoy, who was recently transferred to police headquarters as Director of Operations.
An internal memo announced Maiyo’s immediate appointment, stating: “Following the deployment of Unit Commandant William Yiampoy to Vigilance as Director of Operations, this command informs you that Noah Maiyo is the new Presidential Escort Commandant.”
Maiyo has also served with the General Service Unit and the Recce Squad, which is tasked with safeguarding the President, his family, and the Deputy President. The PEU, which Maiyo now commands, is a specialized team responsible for the secure movement of the President and his family, as well as providing security for the Deputy President.
With upcoming changes expected in the police force, including new appointments for the Deputy Inspector General and the Inspector General of Police, further reforms and leadership adjustments are anticipated.
