Known for A Grain of Wheat, Petals of Blood, and Devil on the Cross, he boldly rejected colonial influence by writing in his native Gikuyu. His 1977 play Ngaahika Ndeenda led to his arrest, and he spent years in exile. His legacy lives on through his family and the generations inspired by his words.
