Kenya’s Ambassador to Belgium and former ICT Principal Secretary, Prof. Bitange Ndemo, has withdrawn from the University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor selection, citing procedural irregularities. Although he was shortlisted and issued an appointment letter by the University Council, Ndemo questioned whether the required approval from the Education Ministry had been secured. Despite assurances from Council Chair Prof. Amukowa Anangwe, Ndemo opted to step down, distancing himself from what he termed an unprocedural process. The Council had named Prof. Francis Jackim Mulaa as Acting VC for six months to allow Ndemo time to conclude his diplomatic duties.
