NAIROBI — Nairobi County’s ongoing cabro paving and walkway rehabilitation program in the central business district has drawn both public complaints and a legal challenge, with the High Court ordering the county to respond to a case disputing the legality of the works.
Complaints over the pace and manner of pavement rehabilitation have been escalated to the Nairobi City County Assembly, according to Daily Nation.
Separately, the High Court has directed Nairobi County and other respondents to file their responses in a case challenging the legality of ongoing cabro paving, walkway installation and related public works in the CBD, with an inter partes hearing scheduled for September 17, 2026, according to Citizen Digital.
In a related dispute, a Nairobi resident has sued the County Assembly over alleged illegal parking on pedestrian walkways, according to Capital FM.
The county rolled out an earlier phase of cabro pavement upgrades in the CBD in January, which was documented in photos published by The Star at the time. Nairobi County has not issued a public response to the pending litigation.
