Residents of Maragua town, Murang’a County, gathered to address increasing insecurity following the recent murder of a three-year-old girl. However, the scheduled security meeting was abruptly postponed, sparking frustration among locals who accused authorities of neglecting their plight. They claimed crime, including murders, theft, and drug abuse, has escalated, with police allegedly demanding bribes instead of enforcing justice. MP Mary Waithera criticized the security team for skipping the meeting, while Deputy County Commissioner Gitonga Murungi defended the decision, citing concerns over political interference. He assured residents that another forum would be organized to tackle security issues.
