A 25-year-old man, Enock Chepkwony, was shot and killed during a robbery at an M-Pesa shop in the Baraka area of Menengai, Nakuru County, on Wednesday night. The incident began when three armed robbers attacked an M-Pesa attendant, injuring her on the face and arm before making away with KSh 40,000.
As the gang fled, they encountered Chepkwony just a few metres from the scene and shot him at close range. He sustained a fatal head wound, with the bullet exiting through his cheek. Police recovered a 7.62mm spent cartridge at the scene.
The injured attendant was taken to hospital for treatment, while Chepkwony’s body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy. Authorities have launched an investigation into the murder and robbery with violence and are working to trace the firearm used in the attack.
