FAS Nairobi expects that imports for Measurement Year (MY) 2024/25 will keep rising, reaching 2.15 million metric tons (MT) due to growing local demand for wheat products and steady domestic production.
Kenya traditionally imports wheat from various suppliers, with traders often shifting between countries based on price fluctuations.
In MY 2022/23, Russia was Kenya’s top wheat supplier, primarily because of its favorable pricing. However, in earlier years, Kenya also sourced significant quantities of wheat from Ukraine, Australia, and Argentina.
