Kenya has launched the FINAS 2025 Dialogue in Nairobi as a precursor to a major summit set for May 2025 aimed at transforming agricultural financing across Africa. The summit will bring together policymakers, financial institutions, and development partners to explore sustainable funding models for agriculture. Agriculture Principal Secretary Dr. Paul Rono emphasized the need for structured financing and legal frameworks to boost food security and economic growth.
The summit will focus on improving access to credit, promoting youth participation in agribusiness, and integrating technology into farming. Cooperatives and SACCOs are expected to play a central role by becoming hubs for financial services, farm inputs, and mechanization. A new sustainable agricultural financing policy will also be unveiled, developed with both local and global partners. Kenya aims to lead the way in building resilient, profitable agri-food systems through inclusive financing.
