Speaking before the Committee on Appointments, Muturi stressed the importance of ensuring that trained individuals find suitable placements within the government or elsewhere. He pledged to engage with the Public Service Commission to address this challenge if confirmed.
Muturi underscored the broad scope of public service across government sectors, addressing concerns about the future of government interns and advocating for improved succession planning. He criticized existing disparities where senior officials are nearing retirement while their deputies are inadequately prepared, attributing this issue to neglect of on-the-job training.
Responding to queries about corruption in recruitment processes, Muturi highlighted transparency issues and acknowledged corruption as a pervasive problem in government offices. He expressed concern over opaque selection procedures and emphasized the need for accountability and fairness.
As the fourth Cabinet nominee to undergo vetting, Muturi is poised to succeed Moses Kuria if confirmed.
