The Kenyan government has cautioned citizens against falling victim to fraudulent job offers in South Korea. In a statement released on May 8, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that it is not participating in any employment recruitment for South Korea and urged Kenyans to steer clear of unverifiable agencies or individuals making such promises.
Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary Roseline Njogu stated that a joint investigation with the Kenya Embassy in Seoul and South Korean authorities had confirmed that the advertised job opportunities were fake. The fraudulent offers specifically referenced work at “Rural Plus Centres” in Haenam, Wando, Jindo, Yeongam, and Jangheung counties in South Korea’s Jeollanam-do province.
PS Njogu emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to protecting Kenyans abroad and noted that South Korean companies named in the scams had denied any involvement or connection with recruitment firms in Kenya. The warning comes amid rising reports of Kenyans being duped by fake job schemes in Asia.
