Police are investigating the brutal murder of an 11-year-old girl whose body was found dumped in a dam near her home in Njambini, Nyandarua County. The girl went missing on May 24 after being sent to a nearby shop. Her naked body, bearing signs of abuse and a deep cut to the throat, was discovered the next day in a dam located in Shobe area, Munyaka.
Investigators suspect she may have been killed in a house roughly 100 meters from the dam, where blood stains and clothing items, including a scarf she was last seen wearing, were found. The body was taken to Engineer Hospital mortuary as police continue to pursue the killer and determine the motive behind the heinous act.
In a separate incident at Moi Girls Nyabohanse in Migori, a Form Two student died under unclear circumstances, triggering chaos at the school. The unexplained death led to a riot by students, during which property was destroyed. About 20 students collapsed in distress and were treated at a local hospital. Police and detectives are investigating the case, and the body has been taken to the mortuary for a postmortem.
