Bill Gates announced that the Gates Foundation will close by December 31, 2045, pledging to donate $200 billion over the next 20 years. The foundation will focus its efforts on health, poverty, and development, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. Despite global aid cuts, the foundation aims to maintain its $9–10 billion annual budget. CEO Mark Suzman emphasized that the goal is to maximize impact before closure and prepare grantees for sustainability. Gates’ commitment also aims to inspire other philanthropists to invest in global development.
