Retired Nairobi Provincial Police Officer Anthony Kibuchi passed away on May 13, 2025, at Kenyatta University Referral Hospital after a prolonged battle with prostate cancer. Diagnosed in 2018 and briefly declared cancer-free in 2022, Kibuchi succumbed to a relapse despite medical efforts and a public appeal for blood donations.
Kibuchi served in senior police roles across Kenya, including in Nyanza, North Eastern, and finally Nairobi from 2009 to 2013, where he led efforts against the Mungiki gang and promoted police-community cooperation. Known for his reformist stance and commitment to media transparency, he mentored many within the force. After retirement, he settled in Kirinyaga County, where he will be laid to rest on May 21. He is survived by his wife and four children.
