Deputy President Kithure Kindiki welcomed Finnish President Alexander Stubb and his wife Suzanne Ines-Stubb at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport early Monday morning, marking the start of a historic three-day state visit to Kenya from May 12 to 14, 2025.
This is the first-ever presidential visit from Finland to Kenya and celebrates 60 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations. President Stubb is set to meet President William Ruto for talks focused on bilateral cooperation, global challenges, and strengthening multilateral ties. A wreath-laying ceremony at Uhuru Gardens and a state banquet hosted by Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto are also scheduled.
During his stay, Stubb will engage with NGOs, policy experts, and students at the University of Nairobi, where he will give a lecture on geopolitics and global systems. He will also participate in the EU-Kenya Business Forum, attend a Business Finland seminar on health and infrastructure, and visit vocational training projects supported by Finland.
Stubb’s itinerary includes a tour of a digital connectivity project in Kawangware and meetings with top UN officials in Nairobi to discuss the future of the UN and Kenya’s role in multilateral initiatives.
