This partnership marks a significant shift in the health insurance landscape, emphasizing preventive care over traditional curative treatments.
My Afya Shield offers a wide range of comprehensive benefits, including medical treatments, access to vaccines, counseling services, mental wellness support, rehabilitation services, and personalized wellness programs. Notably, it includes coverage for alcohol and drug rehabilitation as a standard feature, along with regular health check-ups.
Underwritten by Fidelity Insurance, My Afya Shield is accessible through M-TIBA’s digital platform, connecting members seamlessly to an extensive network of healthcare providers. Members can initiate treatments via the M-TIBA app or USSD, monitor their benefits in real time, review claims, and easily locate healthcare services.
Additionally, members have the flexibility to add family members as dependents, empowering them to manage their healthcare needs independently. With 24/7 support available, My Afya Shield prioritizes a user-friendly experience, allowing members to navigate the complexities of healthcare with confidence and ease.
Richard Marisin, Managing Director of Fidelity Insurance, described My Afya Shield as an innovative health coverage solution tailored to meet the needs of Kenyans. “In partnership with M-TIBA, we will enhance medical coverage for members, groups, and SMEs by leveraging a robust tech-enabled system that enables instant approvals, simplified hospital access across the country, and immediate benefits through mobile devices,” Marisin stated.
The technology behind My Afya Shield allows customers to apply digitally from the comfort of their homes, eliminating the need for paper forms.
