Drama unfolded on Monday morning as armed police officers and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) agents raided Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya’s Milimani residence in Kitale. The officers, reportedly carrying a search warrant, aimed to search the premises and question the governor.
The operation drew a crowd outside the home, which was quickly dispersed by police. The raid followed claims by opposition leaders that Natembeya’s arrest was imminent, suggesting political motives behind the move. The governor has been vocal in his criticism of the national government.
While details of the EACC investigation remain unclear, his party, DAP-K, condemned the raid, calling it political harassment and accusing the state of misusing security agencies. The party vowed to resist any politically motivated actions against Natembeya.
