The Kenya Meteorological Department has forecast reduced rainfall across much of the country for the period between April 29 and May 5, 2025. However, a few regions may still experience isolated showers.
Daytime temperatures exceeding 30°C are expected in the Coast, North-eastern, North-western Kenya, parts of Western Kenya, and the South-eastern lowlands. Meanwhile, night temperatures below 10°C are likely in the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and the areas surrounding Mt. Kilimanjaro.
The Coast—including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and parts of Tana River County—is forecast to have mainly sunny intervals. Similar conditions are expected in the South-eastern lowlands covering Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta Counties, although occasional showers may occur during the day and night.
In the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi and counties like Nyeri, Murang’a, Kiambu, and Meru, residents can expect cloudy mornings with light rain in some areas, followed by sunny intervals.
Western Kenya, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley region—covering counties such as Kisumu, Kakamega, Bungoma, Nakuru, and Uasin Gishu—will generally have sunny mornings, but may experience afternoon and night showers, with thunderstorms likely in some areas.
Turkana and Samburu in the North-west are expected to have sunny days and partly cloudy nights, with occasional rain possible in the mornings, afternoons, or at night.
