Detectives are investigating the murder of British businessman Campbell Scott, who went missing on February 17 and was later found dead in Makongo Forest, Makueni County, on February 22. His body, discovered stuffed in a sack, was positively identified at the Makueni County Referral Hospital, where it had been lying for two days.
Scott, 58, a senior director at data analytics firm Fico, arrived in Kenya on February 16 for a workshop at JW Marriott Hotel, Nairobi. CCTV footage captured him leaving the hotel with an unidentified man on February 17 before boarding a vehicle. Police later arrested a Westlands club waiter and a taxi driver, but the motive remains unclear.
Authorities, including Interpol and DCI, are reviewing Scott’s call records and have taken statements from at least six people, including hotel staff and security personnel. A postmortem was scheduled for February 25 to determine the cause of death.
Scott’s body was discovered by a herder near Wote-Machakos Road, with his hands and legs bound with a green nylon rope, indicating he was murdered elsewhere before being dumped.
Originally from Dunfermline, UK, Scott had worked at Fico since 2014, previously holding roles at Experian UK. At the time of his death, he was based at Fico’s London office.
